Project Manager / Detailer
Position Overview
Responsible for translating architectural plans and engineering documents into fabrication shop instructions using Auto-CAD, Tekla, or SDS/2. You will also manage material procurement, project schedules, and coordinate delivery fleets with client site supers to guarantee on-time project execution. Experience with structural steel and Misc. Metals is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed shop fabrication drawings and erection drawings for steel assemblies.
- Develop accurate bill of materials (BOM), takeoffs, and estimated project cost sheets.
- Coordinate structural drawings with architects, general contractors, and structural engineers.
- Monitor fabrication timelines and field installation schedules to ensure progress milestones are met.
- Assist in organizing shipping lists and local delivery routes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in structural metal detailing, AutoCAD drafting, or steel project management.
- Strong communication and math skills.
- Experience with steel detailing software (Tekla Structures, SDS2, or AutoCAD) required.
- Degree in structural engineering, architecture, or related construction management field is a plus.

Position Overview
Upright Steel, LLC is seeking an experienced, safety-mindedย Field Welder & Installerย to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing high-quality field welds and installing structural steel packages, custom staircases, architectural handrails, and miscellaneous metals on commercial and residential job sites throughout Northeast Ohio.

Key Responsibilities
- Field Installation: Install structural steel columns, beams, stairs, guardrails, and balconies in accordance with shop drawings and structural blueprints.
- On-Site Welding: Perform high-quality structural and miscellaneous steel welds (MIG, Stick, and TIG) in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret architectural drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to ensure exact placement and structural integrity.
- Rigging & Material Handling: Utilize cranes, forklifts, chain hoists, and rigging gear to safely move, align, and secure heavy steel members.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect finished welds to ensure they conform to AWS code standards and local building codes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA standards and Upright Steel safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, fall protection, and hot work permits.
Qualifications and Skills
- AWS Certification: Current AWS D1.1 structural welding certification (MIG/Stick) is highly preferred (or ability to pass test upon hire).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of field welding, rigging, or steel erection experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, grinding, and using standard hand/power tools of the trade.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and work in varying outdoor weather conditions.

Position Overview
