Structural Welder
Position Overview
Executes structural welding and assembly tasks on-site and in the shop, primarily on columns, beams, stairs, and balconies. In the field, you will work closely with mobile crane operators and riggers to erect structural components and ensure robust, code-compliant connections.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute high-integrity stick (SMAW) and flux-cored (FCAW) welding in all positions in the field.
- Assist with structural alignment, bolting, plumbing, and rigging of steel columns and beams.
- Read and interpret structural layouts and detail drawings under field conditions.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety rules, including fall protection and crane safety protocols.
- Coordinate with field foremen to ensure daily erection goals are met safely.
Requirements
- 3+ years of field steel erection or structural welding experience.
- AWS D1.1 structural welding certification (SMAW/FCAW) required.
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Must be comfortable working at heights and in varying outdoor weather conditions.
