Welder / Fitter

Position Overview

Responsible for MIG/TIG welding on structural steel, channel steel, and miscellaneous metal assemblies. This role requires high accuracy, blueprint-reading expertise, and the ability to work independently or in pairs to assemble heavy structures according to engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MIG/TIG welds on structural columns, trusses, and custom steel frames.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols to execute fabrication tasks precisely.
  • Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, beveling, and aligning steel components.
  • Use fixtures, clamps, and jigs to set up assemblies before welding.
  • Conduct quality inspections on finished pieces to ensure compliance with AWS and project specs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of structural steel welding experience.
  • Proficient in reading engineering blueprints and weld symbols.
  • AWS Certification (D1.1 structural steel) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
